Algerian Firms Seek Partners for Trade and Investment in Tanzania

Algerian firms involved in the production of a range of industrial and agricultural products are seeking partners to collaborate on trade and invest in Tanzania’s expanding manufacturing and agricultural sectors.

The Algerian firms interested in collaborating with Tanzania are participating in the ongoing 57th Algiers International Fair (FIA), which was inaugurated by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on June 22, 2026, at the Exhibition Center of the Algerian Fairs and Export Company (SAFEX) in Algiers.

This fair is the largest international event in Algeria, featuring a total of 731 business entities including 549 Algerian companies from various sectors and 202 foreign companies from 36 countries, including 16 African nations.

Speaking on the second day of the exhibition at the Tanzania pavilion, Ambassador Mobhare Matinyi identified the specific firms seeking partners in Tanzania as GISB Group of Companies, which aims to export electrical equipment and home appliances before venturing into the production of electrical cables taking advantage of the availability of copper in the country. Another conglomerate, GETEX, intends to import sisal and cotton and subsequently invest in a leather goods manufacturing factory.

“After his initial visit to Tanzania in May 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of GISB, Dr. Mohamed Khelifa, is coming back to the country in July while senior executives from three GETEX subsidiaries are planning to visit the Kilimanjaro International Leather Products Factory (KLICL) in October 2026 to explore the possibility of collaboration”, said Ambassador Matinyi.

Other companies interested to exporting to Tanzania and exploring investment opportunities include Tapidor, which produces carpets and FIFA-certified artificial turf for football fields; Optimaflex, a mattress manufacturer; Géant Electronics, which produces electrical appliances, Bellat, involved in meat processing and residential constructions, and SARL CPC, which seeks to purchase sardines and tuna. The General Manager of SARL CPC, Samir Benhamada, is scheduled to visit the Zanzibar Fisheries Company (ZAFICO) in July 2026.

Ambassador Matinyi added: “Other Algerian companies want to import coffee, cashew nuts, bananas, soybeans, rice, powdered powdered milk as well as beef, goat and sheep meat, which are widely consumed in Algeria.” He cited the example of the recently held Eid Al-Adha festival, during which the Algerian government imported one million sheep from abroad.

In these exhibitions, Tanzania showcases its pride in national parks, pristine beaches, mountains, historical sites and cultural heritage, along with investment opportunities in the mining, industrial, agricultural, energy, and service sectors, as well as in trade.

Apart from the Embassy, two Tanzanian government institutions participating are the Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA) represented by the ICT and Statistics Manager, Robert Mtendawema; and the Warehouse Receipts Regulatory Board (WRRB) represented by the Acting Chief Accountant Gilbert Lyimo and the Principal Accounting Officer Omary Mafita.
