Mining has billions of shillings of shillings of business opportunities

📍DODOMA: The government through the Minerals Commission has opened up billions of shillings worth of business opportunities in mines for Tanzanians, with youth and women being given priority to increase their participation in the Mining Sector and stimulate the implementation of the National Development Vision 2050.

The move aims to build a competitive and inclusive economy that enables Tanzanians to fully participate in production activities, increase the value of mineral resources and benefit more from the opportunities arising from the sector.

Speaking at the ongoing Nane Nane Exhibition at the Nzuguni Fields, Dodoma, a Geologist from the Directorate of Mineral Inspection and Trade of the Minerals Commission, Hassan Mkumba, said the Commission has identified 20 products and services that will be specifically provided by Tanzanians to increase their participation in mining activities.

He mentioned some of the services as the supply of lubricants for mines, sanitation services, legal services related to the mining sector, the supply of cleaning chemicals, activated carbon, small-scale mining, excavation, mineral laboratory analysis, mineral transportation and mine security services.

Mkumba said other opportunities are the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE), mining machinery engineering, equipment maintenance, fuel supply, testing and mapping, professional consulting services as well as catering and accommodation services for mine workers.

He said the move is part of the implementation of Government policies to strengthen the participation of indigenous people in the entire mining value chain, increase employment, promote local businesses and ensure that mineral resources contribute to a greater extent to the development of the national economy.

Mkumba called on Tanzanian youth, women and businessmen to come forward and take advantage of these opportunities by considering the standards and needs of the sector, emphasizing that their participation will contribute to building a strong economy and achieving the goals of the National Development Vision 2050.
