The Minister of Energy, Mr. Deogratius Ndejembi has invited MPs to visit the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant which generates a total of 2,115 megawatts of electricity through a special virtual reality device.
Mr. Ndejembi said this, April 20, 2026 while inspecting the pavilions of the Energy Week exhibition held at the Parliament grounds in Dodoma which aims to showcase various activities carried out by institutions under the Ministry of Energy.
“Through this exhibition, MPs will have the opportunity to see the various works carried out by the Ministry of Energy through its institutions. Even those who have never been to the Julius Nyerere Dam will be able to see it through virtual reality technology and witness the great efforts being made to generate electricity in the country,” explained Mr. Ndejembi.
He said that the MPs are TANESCO experts from various regions who are ready to receive and address the concerns and challenges facing the citizens in their constituencies, in order to resolve them quickly.
Mr. Ndejembi said the Government’s efforts in ensuring that citizens have access to electricity with the aim of promoting the use of clean cooking energy.
He said that at the exhibition, there are stoves that use less electricity that can cook food with great efficiency.
“At this exhibition, people will see the efforts being made in the use of clean cooking energy. Here there are foods cooked using clean energy, you will also see modern stoves that use less electricity but cook efficiently,” he emphasized.
The Energy Week exhibition is being held for four days, with the Ministry of Energy’s budget expected to be presented to parliament on April 22, 2026.
