The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has said that the time has come for member states of the East African Community to look for more opportunities for cooperation and development for the benefit of those countries.
President Dr. Mwinyi said this, on 17 April 2026, when he met with the Secretary-General of the East African Community, Ambassador Stephen Patrick Mbundi, who arrived at the State House to introduce himself and bid him farewell.
President Dr. Mwinyi assured Ambassador Mbundi that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, in collaboration with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, will continue to participate fully in the implementation of the joint responsibilities of the East African Community and wished him all the best in the implementation of his new responsibilities.
He also said that as member states plan to strengthen cooperation, there is now a need to look for opportunities for the implementation of joint projects.
The Secretary-General of the East African Community, Ambassador Stephen Patrick Mbundi, has promised that the Community will continue to cooperate and work more closely with Zanzibar, as well as congratulating President, Dr. Mwinyi for the successes and developments currently being achieved by Zanzibar, including the strengthening of peace.
