JKCI completes half a century of showing the power of the mind to create heart therapy

Dar es Salaam: The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute [JKCI] has joined with the Nation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, Sabasaba by setting up a Special Clinic aimed at showing Tanzania’s great progress in the cardiology sector.

Speaking to the media, the Executive Director and Cardiologist of JKCI, Dr. Peter Richard Kisenge said that the institution is the pride of Tanzanians for being at the forefront of heart treatment and heart surgery in the country and abroad.

“In our Sabasaba pavilion, we are showing Tanzanians various new technologies. One of them is the use of Akili Unde, where patients are now being tested for heart diseases using modern computer systems”, said Dr. Gossip.

According to the Doctor, JKCI has brought modern equipment that can examine the functioning of the heart with great certainty. In addition, there are devices that enable the patient to be monitored even at home, as long as he has such devices with the ability of AI or Artificial intelligence.

Dr. Kisenge has urged the public to show up in large numbers at the JKCI pavilion to test their health without paying a single cent. The service is called.

“Know Your Numbers” and includes six important parameters: blood pressure, sugar level, blood fat, height to weight ratio, waist circumference measurement for men and women, as well as heart rate.

“If a person knows his numbers in advance, he protects himself from heart diseases and other non-communicable diseases that currently contribute to many deaths”, he said.

In the pavilion, JKCI displays real equipment used in heart surgery. Citizens are given the opportunity to see for themselves how surgery is done, including the use of a small incision such as the placement of a pacemaker and the opening of blood vessels.

There are also special devices for detecting sudden cardiac arrest.

“All those who will be found with problems this Sabasaba period, we will serve them directly”, he promised.

Explaining the success of the institution, Dr. Kisenge said JKCI has now expanded its services by opening centers in Oysterbay, Kawe, Kariakoo, Arusha and Upanga.

“Our success has made JKCI internationally recognized. Currently more than 20 countries are sending their patients to be treated here in Tanzania”, he encouraged
