The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner has opened a session of the Regional Business Council and urged business stakeholders in the Region as well as the general public to continue to maintain Peace and Stability in the country as peace is the main basis of all commercial and economic activities and that without peace, business cannot take place
Speaking while opening the Regional Business Council Session held at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila has mentioned three important factors to facilitate economic and trade growth as peace and good business policies.
In addition, RC Chalamila has mentioned some of the challenges that are important to use joint efforts to address in order to continue strengthening Business including the challenge of traffic congestion in the city and the challenge of security and safety in Business areas including the Kariakoo area where he said the Regional Government has a responsibility to make the city a smart city by installing security cameras
RC Chalamila added that another challenge is the absence of a tax-paying culture among Tanzanians where he said it is important to build a tax-paying culture in the community starting from the grassroots levels as taxes are the foundation of National development and the improvement of social services while also encouraging all government institutions including TBS, TRA and Councils to work together to protect businessmen and has directed to organize themselves to benefit from the opportunities of the AGCON 2027 football tournament
On the part of the Chairman of the Tanzania Business Forum JWT Yusuph Yenga has advised that construction permits be issued on time especially for investment so that businessmen can benefit from AFCON while also advising the strengthening of the export trade while mentioning the challenge of businessmen being charged sales receipts when exporting goods abroad before they have sold the goods
However, Festus Patta, a representative of the five tax regions from the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in Dar es Salaam, has explained the issue of imported goods being claimed for receipts as the export procedure is to issue receipts because when you export goods, you will have sales invoices and has promised to work further on this challenge.
