Zanzibar President welcomes investors to invest

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has welcomed investors and businessmen from Arab countries to invest in Zanzibar, noting that Zanzibar has an excellent environment and many investment opportunities in various sectors.

President Dr. Mwinyi said on June 05, 2026, at the Zanzibar State House, when he met with Ambassadors of Arab countries representing their countries in Tanzania, who arrived to greet him and congratulate him on the great development that Zanzibar is currently achieving.

President Dr. Mwinyi has commended the Arab countries for strengthening and developing their relations with Tanzania, including Zanzibar, as well as their assistance in various fields of development, which he has described as an important catalyst for development, economic growth, social welfare and cooperation.

He assured the Ambassadors that Zanzibar appreciates the assistance provided by those countries in the education, health and infrastructure sectors, emphasizing the importance of developing the historical and long-term cooperation between those countries and Zanzibar.

President Dr. Mwinyi has advised the Ambassadors to promote the opportunities available in Zanzibar to investors and businessmen in their countries so that they can invest, especially in the tourism and blue economy sectors.

He said the Government has prepared policies, a favorable investment environment and various incentives.

President Dr. Mwinyi said the tourism sector, which is an important pillar of the Zanzibar economy and contributes 30 percent of the national income, continues to have opportunities for cooperation and investment that investors from Arab countries can use productively and successfully.

Speaking about the blue economy sector, he said it is also an important sector with many opportunities, including oil and gas exploration and extraction, meetings and conferences (MICE), fishing, sports tourism, beach tourism, seafood as well as the opportunities available in the Mangapwani Integrated Port.

President Dr. Mwinyi has commended various institutions from Arab countries that continue to invest and assist Zanzibar in different areas of development, economy and social welfare.

He assured these institutions of further cooperation, while welcoming companies and investors to invest in Zanzibar, in the trade and investment sectors.

President Dr. Mwinyi has requested these countries to support Zanzibar in its efforts and strategy to bring about reforms and strengthen the provision of services through a digital system, build the capacity of its people through training in various fields of technology and increase training opportunities for Zanzibari in these Arab countries.

  5. Ambassador of Algeria, Hon. Ghalib Zemane.
  6. Ambassador of Palestine, Hon. Salam Abuu Sharara.
  7. Acting Ambassador of Syria, Acram Fayz Alhada.
  8. Acting Ambassador of Yemen, Ahmad Sale Al Umar.
  9. Acting Ambassador of Qatar, Abdulla Saeed Al Naimi.
  10. Acting Ambassador of Somalia, Abdillatif Abdullah Hilowle.

Delivering greetings on behalf of the Ambassadors, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Hon. Yahya Ahmed Okesh, congratulated President Dr. Mwinyi for his leadership that is bringing about significant development and changes in the economy of Zanzibar and the welfare of its people.

He praised the great achievements achieved in the construction of infrastructure, including roads, airports and ports and the strengthening of the tourism sector, a move that is stimulating the increase in the number of tourists coming to Zanzibar.
