The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, will this Monday lead the people of Kigoma and Tanzanians in general in the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the international standard railway SGR, being built from Tabora to Kigoma.
The 506-kilometer railway will connect the Tabora, Shinyanya, Mwanza and Kigoma Regions as well as neighboring countries.
The event will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026 at the Katosho Stadium in Kigoma Region.
Preparations have been completed to a large extent with the Minister for Transport, Professor Makame Mbarawa, welcoming Tanzanians to the event.
