The Kariakoo Market Organization has allocated special breastfeeding rooms at the Kariakoo market, these rooms are specifically for mothers who are traders at the market to breastfeed their children in a friendly and respectful environment.
The allocation of these rooms is an implementation of government directives that aim to relieve the inconvenience of breastfeeding mothers and also improve the health of their children, which will eliminate the challenges of stunting in children by recognizing that breast milk for children is a basic need.
Explaining the allocation of these rooms, the General Manager of the Kariakoo Market Organization, CPA. Asharaph Abdulkarim said that the leadership of the Kariakoo Market Organization, recognizing the importance of child health and the welfare of its traders, has decided to allocate these rooms to relieve mothers from the inconvenience and costs of going home or other places to breastfeed their children.
“On behalf of the management, I continue to commend the Sixth Phase Government under President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for continuing to care for traders who have built modern infrastructure here in Kariakoo and the business areas are also social service areas that directly affect the citizen”, said CPA. CPA. Abdulkarim said that one of the facilities and breastfeeding rooms for mothers, the government has built infrastructure for people with special needs in recognition that the market serves citizens with mixed needs from various areas.
The construction and renovation of the market has cost approximately 28 billion where the construction and renovation is 99 percent complete where 1520 old traders have already been allocated places to trade, while 351 new traders have been allocated places following their application for these places through the TAUSI system.
