The Muhimbili National Hospital Upanga and Mloganzila in collaboration with Vodacom Tanzania Foundation has concluded a six-day camp in Tanga and Kilimanjaro regions that began from 21 to 27 July, 2025.
In the camp, over 3,800 citizens benefited from free medical examination and treatment services.
In the camp, 1,499 citizens underwent eye examinations and treatment: 1,207 Internal Medicine, 867 Maternal and Child Health, 803 Ear, Nose and Throat, 813 Disability Assessment, 700 Child Health, 671 Oral and Dental Health, 756 Cancer, 621 Skin and 553 Mental Health.
He said that out of the 1,499 patients who underwent eye examinations, they were found to have various challenges including dry eyes, allergies, poor vision, inability to read small print up close, cataracts and eye pressure.
Explaining the major reasons that contribute to people experiencing eye challenges in these areas, Ophthalmologist, Dr. Joachim Kilemile said that old age, diabetes and high blood pressure.
Muhimbili National Hospital Upanga and Mloganzila, in its efforts to continue bringing services closer to the citizens, expects to conduct outreach services at Nane Nane Parks in Dodoma region from August 01 to 08, 2025.
