The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila has called on local government chairmen and ward executives of Dar es Salaam to oversee security and safety at the local and ward levels to ensure that it is safe and secure at all times.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam at a working session with ward and local chairmen and executives held at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Mr. Chalamila said the issue of security and safety should start at the local and ward levels.
He has called on the leaders to oversee the issue as some localities have experienced incidents of peace violations.
Mr. Chalamila has called on the leaders at the local and ward levels to help solve the challenges of the citizens and not be the source of increasing challenges for the citizens, where he has also used the opportunity to ask the chairmen and executives to recognize that this year is an election year so they should continue to encourage citizens starting from the local level to participate in the elections.

Mr. Chalamila, through the working session, has called on local chairmen and local and ward executives to encourage citizens and business people to pay taxes to enable the Government to have enough funds to implement various development projects.
He said President Dr. Samia needs money to continue to bring development for the broad public interest.
He added that in the President’s speech when he recently swore in leaders in Dodoma Region, he emphasized four things to the regional commissioners including the importance of maintaining peace, collecting revenue and managing development projects.
He also said the President complained about the decline in citizens’ concerns being heard, so in order to fulfill these goals, the local and ward levels have a great role.
The Commander of the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Force, SACP Jumanne Muliro said it is important for local chairmen and local and ward executives to collaborate with the police force to strengthen peace starting at the local level, especially in the period leading up to the General Elections and in October 2025.
