The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy in charge of electricity and renewable energy, Dr. Khatibu Kazungu, on July 04, 2025, received two vehicles that will be used for a campaign to promote education on the use of clean cooking energy.
According to a statement issued by Tanesco, the clean cooking energy campaign, which will be known as ‘Save Lives and the Environment’, will be run nationwide by the Ministry of Energy in collaboration with UNCDF.

“The Clean Cooking Energy Agenda is a global agenda and we, the Ministry of Energy, are ready to implement it to support the President, Dr. Samia,” said Dr. Kazungu.
He thanked the European Union and UNCDF for implementing the clean cooking energy project under the Cook Fund, as it has helped change the lives and attitudes of citizens regarding the implementation of clean energy projects.
Speaking during the handover, the EU Ambassador, Ambassador, Mrs. Christine Grau said the EU is ready to continue to support Tanzania in the implementation of Clean Cooking Energy.
Ambassador Christine said that to ensure that the campaign is carried out properly, the EU has already provided an amount of 19.4 Million Euros equivalent to 59 Billion Shillings to implement clean cooking energy projects in some regions in the country.
The Ambassador named the regions as Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Pwani, Morogoro and Mwanza.
Regarding the vehicles, he said that the two vehicles are worth 130,000 Euros and has urged the Ministry of Energy to ensure that rural citizens are reached with clean cooking energy.
Tanzania is planning to implement the National Clean Cooking Energy Strategy under the National Communication Strategy in order to educate the public and achieve the Government’s goal of 80% of Tanzanians starting to use clean cooking energy by 2034.
