CCM Zanzibar Commends President Dr. Mwinyi for Increasing Salaries in Zanzibar

Zanzibar: Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has commended the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, for fulfilling his government’s pledge to increase workers’ salaries.

CCM further noted that this action demonstrates the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar’s (SMZ) commitment to raising salaries, reflecting the sincere intentions of the President.

These commendations were expressed by Khamis Mbeto Khamis, Secretary of the NEC Special Committee for Zanzibar (Department of Ideology, Publicity, and Training), at the CCM headquarters in Kisiwandui, Unguja.

Mbeto remarked that a promise is akin to a debt; therefore, when a promise is fulfilled, it attests to the integrity of the person who made and kept that commitment.

He stated that the decision by the Eighth-Phase Government to raise the minimum monthly wage from 300,000 to 500,000 Tanzanian shillings deserves both support and praise.

“Chama Cha Mapinduzi sincerely commends President Dr. Mwinyi for his government’s move to increase the minimum wage. Furthermore, this salary adjustment also applies to employees in other pay grades,” said Mbeto.

The Publicity Secretary recalled that on May 1st of this year—International Workers’ Day—President Dr. Mwinyi had pledged that his government would increase salaries for employees of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. The May Day celebrations took place at Dole Kizimbani, in the Magharibi A District of the Western Region on Unguja Island.

“As the Swahili saying goes, ‘A person’s word speaks of their character, but true nobility is shown through actions.’ President Dr. Mwinyi’s promise to all government employees has been fulfilled. Everything that was pledged will continue to be implemented,” he emphasized.

The Publicity Secretary urged government officials responsible for salary adjustments—across ministries, institutions, departments, and units of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ)—to ensure that no bureaucracy arises that could lead to grievances during the implementation of the new salary scales.

“The process of adjusting salaries for all grades will officially begin this month. It would be ideal if no complaints were to arise from employees of any grade,” advised Mbeto.
