THE PRIME MINISTER, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba has met with the Vice President of the French ALSTOM Company, Philippe Deller, where they discussed investment opportunities in the transport infrastructure sector in Tanzania.
During the talks, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba invited ALSTOM to invest in the country, explaining that the Sixth Phase Government led by His Excellency the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, continues to create an enabling environment for investors and implement reforms aimed at making Tanzania a hub for trade, transport and investment in the East African region.
Mr. Phillepe expressed the company’s interest in collaborating with the Government of Tanzania in the implementation of strategic urban transport projects.
The company has shown its willingness to invest in the construction of rapid transit systems and modern infrastructure aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the City of Dar es Salaam, while also looking at opportunities for the implementation of similar projects in the cities of Mwanza, Mbeya and Arusha.
The projects are expected to increase the efficiency of urban transport, reduce travel times, enhance business and investment activities, as well as stimulate economic growth and improve the lives of citizens through the use of modern technologies.
The talks are part of the Government’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with large international companies to bring technology, expertise and capital that stimulate the development of infrastructure and the National economy.
ALSTOM has extensive experience in designing, building and operating modern public transport systems including modern railways, high-speed trains, metros, trams and transport management technologies.
