TBN, St Petersburg: President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is concluding her visit to Russia by participating in a business forum between Tanzania and Russia in conjunction with the St Petersburg International Business Forum.
At the forum, President Dr. Samia is expected to promote Tanzania in the investment and trade sectors. President Dr. Samia’s visit has been a great success, especially the assurance of close cooperation with Russia in various fields including education, human resource development and technology development.
The visit to a nation with great technological strength, processing and production in agriculture or industry comes as Tanzania prepares to implement the National Development Vision 2050 which aims to make the nation have an annual income of one trillion dollars.
The government has now said that the GDP for 2025 grew by an average of 5.9% compared to 5.5% in 2024, a statement made by the Minister of Finance, Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar while presenting the Budget Implementation Review and Plan for the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 and the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the Fiscal Year 2026/2027 in parliament in Dodoma recently.
Ambassador Omar said the growth was driven by increased lending to the private sector, improved transport and logistics infrastructure and improved agricultural activities.
She cited other reasons as increased mineral production and public and private construction activities and the implementation of strategic projects, especially in the energy, transportation and social services sectors.
