Bridge ends transport problem in Namtumbo

Namtumbo: The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) continues to implement development projects aimed at improving road infrastructure and continuing to improve them to cope with the effects of climate change, including El Nino rains.

These efforts have been highlighted by the Acting Manager of TARURA Namtumbo District, Engineer Albert Mtimba, who has noted that one of the works being carried out includes the construction of the 30-meter-long Muungano Bridge, which is expected to be completed and put into operation by November 28, 2026.

“This project to build the Muungano Bridge is very important for the citizens because during the rainy season it is difficult to cross to the other side because the river is full of water but there are also crocodiles in this river.” Said Engineer Albert.

In addition, he explained that the completion of the bridge will help the citizens transport their goods to the market, transport to the District Hospital but also children will be able to go to school easily.

Meanwhile, Ms. Sifa Seleman, a resident of Namtumbo, said that health services, especially for mothers and children, are difficult during the rainy season due to the lack of bridges.

“This project will help us, especially mothers, because sometimes people are forced to give birth in dangerous environments.” Said Ms. Sifa.

Also, Mr. Amir Simba, a resident of Namtumbo, commended the government through TARURA for the implementation of the project, which is a savior for the people of those areas.

The Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) continues to implement various projects across the country, including the construction of bridges and roads to enable citizens to carry out their various activities, including economic and social.
