The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Hon. Albert Chalamila has made a visit to visit the Mkwajuni Bridge and the Tandale and Ng’ombe River areas in Kinondoni District as a step to prepare to deal with the heavy El-nino rains that are expected to fall this year.
He has instructed local and ward executives to have books for waste contractors to sign every time they go to collect waste to control fraud and waste littering on the streets
The visit is in implementation of the instructions of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and Vice President Deogratoas Ndejembi to strengthen cleanliness in all areas especially along rivers to avoid the effects of El-nino rains predicted by the TMA.
Speaking during the visit, RC Chalamila urged the Council to continue to strengthen infrastructure, including clearing clogged drains, and directed citizens to participate in arresting those who litter so that legal action can be taken, while emphasizing the presence of waste contractors’ books to sign.
On behalf of the Kinondoni District Administrative Secretary, Mrs. Warda Abdallah, on behalf of the District Commissioner, he explained the strategies and steps that the District has been taking to improve cleanliness, while the Mayor of Kinondoni Municipality, Hon. Songoro Mnyonge, promised that the Council will continue to manage cleanliness with all efforts.
The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila also visited the Msimbazi River in the Tabata Liwiti area of ​​Ilala District, an area where there has been illegal waste dumping, where he directed all those who litter in the area to be arrested and legal action taken.
The Ilala District Commissioner, Mr. Edward Mpogolo, explained the challenge of waste disposal in the area and the steps that have been taken to control the challenge.
