‘Sabasaba exhibitions are an important link to exchange experiences’ – President Dr. Mwinyi

President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, said the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba, has become an important platform to share experiences, learn new technologies, promote business and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors.

President Dr. Mwinyi said this on July 13, 2026, when he officially closed the 50th International Trade Fair in Dar es Salaam.

He said that in the 50 years since its inception, the Exhibition has played a major role in promoting business and economic diplomacy, where investors from various parts of the world have been participating, investing and advertising services as well as various commercial products.

He said the exhibition has also become an important platform for Tanzanians to demonstrate their ability and readiness in creativity and productive production, including the production of quality products and the use of modern technologies.

He said the exhibition is an important opportunity to strengthen the capacity of Tanzanians in building a strong, modern and competitive economy, while stressing that the development of the nation depends on the implementation of national priorities through actions, discipline and responsibility.

President Dr. Mwinyi said the Government will continue to manage and create a better and enabling environment that will stimulate positive results in the business and industrial sectors in the country for the wider benefit of the Nation.

He said the Government continues to focus on motivating Tanzanians to use the various opportunities available, including the African Continental Free Trade Market (AfCFTA), with the aim of strengthening trade and increasing markets for products produced in the country.

President Dr. Mwinyi has encouraged businessmen to use those opportunities to advertise and find markets for products produced in Tanzania, while stressing that Government institutions have the responsibility to remove bureaucracy that hinders the provision of quality and timely services to citizens and businessmen.

He has emphasized the importance of managing public resources with integrity and responsibility, as well as asking TanTrade to continue looking for new marketing opportunities and to ensure that enabling services are available to help Tanzanians benefit from those opportunities.

Concluding his speech, President Dr. Mwinyi has said that the development of the Nation requires peace, unity and solidarity, and emphasized the people to continue supporting the efforts of the Government by being united, protecting the peace of the country and working hard and patriotism.

In that event, President Dr. Mwinyi presented special awards to winners and participants who performed well in the 2026 Exhibition.

President Dr. Mwinyi has been awarded a Special Award for the 50th Anniversary of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, in recognition of his participation and the contribution he continues to make in making the fair a success.

Earlier, President Dr. Mwinyi visited the various pavilions of the Exhibition and saw for himself the products and services offered by public institutions, the private sector as well as participants from various countries who attended the Golden Jubilee of the 50th anniversary of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair.
