President Mwinyi encourages the fight against drugs

President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Alhaj Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has stressed the importance of the community to join forces in fighting drug use by strengthening the quality education of children and young people, in order to protect the workforce and the future of the Nation.

President Dr. Mwinyi made the call on June 26, 2026, when he participated in the Friday Prayer at the Al Azhar Mosque, Mpendae, Urban West Region.

He said that good education that starts within the family and focuses on religious training is the basis for building young people with morals and protecting them from drugs, crime and other evil actions.

President Dr. Mwinyi has said that the celebration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking that will be held on June 27 should be a springboard to increase awareness and community participation in eradicating the problem.

In commemoration of Ashura day, President Dr. Mwinyi has encouraged believers to increase worship, fast, do good deeds and continue to raise children and young people on the basis of ethics, justice, compassion and fear of Allah.
