WMA booth attracts citizens at exhibition

Dodoma: The booth became the center of traffic on the third day of the exhibition, June 18, 2026, as citizens turned out in large numbers to learn how the Government through WMA ensures that every measurement used in commerce and services is accurate.

“Now I know what I should look for when I fill up with fuel, buy sugar or even when I buy cooking gas”, said Mr. Bilson Vedastus, one of the citizens who visited the WMA booth at the ongoing National Public Service Week Exhibition at Chinangali Park, Dodoma.

After receiving step-by-step explanations from experts, many have promised to become ambassadors for the WMA in their areas.

“We have seen how pumps, scales and other equipment are checked to ensure they measure accurately. Now we cannot remain silent when we see customers being wronged. We will inform our neighbors and report fraud wherever we see it”, said Ms. Asha Siyaya.

WMA experts, Mr. Albogast Kajungu, Mr. Mbwana Amani and Mr. Said Ibrahim explained to the citizens that verification of measurements affects all sectors that directly concern them every day. In the oil sector, all pumps are verified and affixed with a verification sticker. In the market and shops, scales used to measure sugar, rice and vegetables are inspected so that customers do not lose money.

The water and electricity sector was not left behind. Water and electricity meters used in homes and small businesses are verified and verified to ensure that customers pay for actual consumption and not an estimate or incorrect number.

Similarly, cooking gas cylinders, packaged products such as flour and soap and road scales are all verified regularly.

Speaking to the Press, the Communications Manager of the Measurement Agency, Ms. Veronica Simba said the goal is to ensure that citizens get the full value of every shilling they pay, and she has encouraged more citizens to visit the pavilion before the exhibition ends.

The exhibition began on June 16, 2026 and is expected to conclude on June 23, 2026.
