WAF – Simiyu: The Government through the Ministry of Health continues to strengthen the implementation of maternal and child health interventions through a safe birth kit for regional and council health service delivery teams in Simiyu Region.
The Regional Chief Medical Officer of Simiyu, Dr. Boniface Marwa who is the official guest at the launch said this on February 09, 2026 at a workshop to introduce the kit held at the Somanda Summit Centre, Simiyu Region.
“The goal of this kit is to reduce maternal and infant mortality by improving the quality of services at service delivery facilities”, said Dr. Marwa.
Dr. Marwa said the program aims to improve access to quality safe birth services, reduce maternal and child mortality as well as increase community awareness about the importance of post-natal health services.
“This package also focuses on two main areas, one of which is the distribution of medical equipment in health care facilities and the second area is orientation training for service providers to ensure that the services provided are in line with national and international standards”, said Dr. Marwa.
Dr. Marwa said this package will touch on key areas of service including antenatal care, prenatal care, newborn care and postnatal care.
Dr. Marwa stressed that the success of the implementation of the package will not depend only on equipment or training but also on effective management, accountability and practical implementation at all levels.
“The Simiyu Regional Government will continue to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health and all stakeholders to ensure that this package is implemented effectively and delivers the expected results within the implementation period”, said Dr. Marwa.
