Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Mrs. Rosemary Senyamule has called on residents of subdistricts that will benefit from the Electricity Supply Project in 379 subdistricts to prepare for wiring in their homes in advance so that they can be connected to the service once the Project is completed.
Speaking during the ceremony to introduce the contractor (Giza Cable Industries S.A.E Company) from Egypt who is implementing the Electricity Supply Project in 379 subdistricts of Dodoma region, Mrs. Senyamule said it is important for residents to invest early in the infrastructure within their buildings to avoid delays in accessing the service.
The Regional Commissioner advised the contractor to ensure that the electricity supply work in 379 subdistricts is completed in accordance with the contract or if possible before the scheduled time.
Regional Commissioner Senyamule strongly warned against the attacks on citizens in various parts of the region, saying that the regional government has taken steps to ensure that this does not happen again and called on citizens to use skilled and legally recognized technicians to do electrical wiring in their homes.
REA Central Zone Project Manager, Aneth Malingumu said the event aimed to officially introduce the contractor to begin work on distributing electricity in the suburbs of Dodoma region where the Government has allocated 43.9 billion shillings for the project to distribute electricity to 379 suburbs in Chamwino, Kongwa, Mpwapwa, Kondoa and Chemba districts.
He said the project will enable initial customers (12,256 citizens) to access electricity services, adding that if electricity services are used properly, it will help boost their economy as well as improve the provision of social services including health and education.
Engineer Malingumu urged citizens to ensure that they do their house wiring early so that they are ready to be connected to electricity once the infrastructure is completed and added that REA will continue to collaborate with the contractor to resolve challenges at work sites and pay him on time so that the project is completed within the three-year contract period.
TANESCO Dodoma Regional Manager, Engineer, Donasia Shamba, said TANESCO, who is the Consultant, will ensure that the equipment and construction of the Project adhere to the required quality so that the Government’s goals through REA are achieved.
A representative of the Giza Cable company, Engineer Almas Msuya said the company is ready to implement all instructions given by the Government to ensure that the project to distribute electricity to 379 sub-districts is completed on time according to the terms of the contract.
