The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila has visited and inspected the construction of various bridges in the city including the construction of the Jangwani Bridge connecting Ilala and Kinondoni districts, the Mzinga River Bridge in Temeke district and the Nvuga and Geti Jeusi Bridge in Kigamboni district with the aim of seeing the speed and standards of construction of the infrastructure.
The Jangwani Bridge costs more than Sh97 billion, the Mzinga River and the road to Kongowe Sh54 billion, the ‘Geti Jeusi’ and the Nvuga Bridge Sh9 billion each.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Chalamila said the Government is determined to end the challenges for the citizens especially the floods that have been hindering the development activities of the citizens so he has urged the contractors to complete the projects.
He also urged the public to support the government in maintaining and protecting the projects and thanked the President, Dr. Samia for providing large sums of money for the construction of various projects in the region, projects that cost a lot of money.
Mr. Chalamila used the visit to talk to the public and remind them that October 29 this year is the general election day so they should come out in large numbers to vote peacefully and calmly without engaging in acts of violence as the protection of the country’s peace is everyone’s responsibility and that any breach of peace will not be tolerated.
TANROAD Dar es Salaam Regional Manager, Engineer Razerk Kyamba, said how all bridge construction projects are progressing and said that they are at a good stage despite the fact that some of them were delayed due to various challenges including rain.
When the District Commissioners of Ilala and Kinondoni participated in the visit, they thanked President Dr. Samia for facilitating the projects, saying that the construction of bridges is going to be a solution for the citizens against the effects of floods.
However, citizens who came out to listen to the Regional Commissioner thanked and commended the Government for the way it is helping to solve the flood challenge by building bridges, but they have asked the Regional Commissioner to help provide other services including a police station in the Mzinga area and a secondary school.
