The Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) continues to actively participate in the 8th Geita Mining Technology Exhibition being held at Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan Fields, Bombambili in Geita Region, where activities are expected to culminate on September 28, 2025.
At the exhibition, TFS is using the opportunity to educate and engage citizens about its responsibilities, including forest conservation, tree planting, beekeeping, fire control, eco-tourism as well as investment opportunities in natural forests. In addition, citizens are being educated about the benefits of bee products including honey, pollen, wax and forest products.
Speaking to journalists at the TFS pavilion, Conservator, Mr. Juma Mdoe from Shamba la Miti Silayo said the institution produces quality bee products and urged citizens living near conservation areas to participate in beekeeping activities instead of continuing indiscriminate logging.
“We encourage citizens and stakeholders to invest in beekeeping as it is a sustainable activity that increases income without damaging the environment. There are also opportunities for tourism and environmental sports such as cross-country skiing at Silayo and Rubare Tree Farms,” said Mr. Mdoe.
TFS, through its units including the Morogoro Tree Seed Centre and tree farms like Silayo, remains at the forefront of providing education and promoting the better use of forest resources in the country.
