The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has officially launched the new and modern building of the Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) in Maisara, West Urban Region.

Dr. Mwinyi has launched the building as part of the Government’s efforts to enhance the working environment of the institution that is important for democracy in the country.

President Dr. Mwinyi said this, on July 16, 2025, during the inauguration ceremony of the building, where he also opened the Western District Office “B”, and emphasized that the construction of the buildings is the implementation of the promise he made during the 2020 General Election campaigns.

President Dr. Mwinyi said the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar did not hesitate to finance the construction of the Commission’s headquarters as well as district offices in recognition of the importance of the institution in ensuring free, fair and credible elections.
