Dodoma: Members of Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania have described the major economic and social transformations that have emerged, including economic opportunities resulting from the improvement of the business environment in their constituencies since the implementation of the Tanzania Urban Infrastructure Improvement Project (TACTIC) for the first and second phases of the project.
They said this yesterday, June 25, 2025, at the Government Town Conference Hall, Mtumba, Dodoma during the signing of contracts for 11 cities in Mainland Tanzania, which are Morogoro and Songea for the first phase as well as the cities of Tanga, Korogwe, Babati, Shinyanga, Bukoba, Bariadi, Lindi, Iringa and Njombe.
The beneficiaries of the projects have stated that TACTIC has helped in improving the management and growth of cities in parallel with improving the delivery of services provided by their councils to the citizens.
Tanga City MP, Mrs. Ummy Mwalimu, among the leaders who benefited from the construction of water channels, street lights and asphalt roads, also noted that the construction of the Makorora Market and the Deep Sea Fish Market in Tanga was a long-standing dream and cry, noting that its completion will change the status and appearance of Tanga city and increase the income of entrepreneurs and traders in the city due to their modern and attractive business environment.
Iringa City Member of Parliament, Mrs. Jesca Msambatavangu has noted that the construction of the Kihesa market in the TACTIC project phase two will eliminate the problem of entrepreneurs being evicted by the city guards from doing business in informal areas in the city center as well as promoting financial circulation and the economy of Iringa city.
In the presence of the guest of honor, the Minister of State, Office of the President – TALIMISEMI, Mrs. Msambatavangu also explained that the construction of the Mkimbizi – Bima, Mtwivila, Viziwi and Bontank roads will further benefit Iringa economically and in terms of tourism, thus beautifying the landscape of Iringa as well as strengthening tourism activities in the city which is the tourism hub of the Southern region.
Bukoba City MP, Steven Byabato and Mr. Patrobas Katambi Shinyanga City MP, have also expressed their gratitude for the arrival of TACTIC projects in their cities, thanking the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for continuing to lead a major economic revolution.
He also thanked him for developing communities through TACTIC projects, with the aim of improving the infrastructure of 45 cities in Tanzania as well as building the capacity of councils so that they can strengthen themselves and provide quality services to the citizens they serve.
