The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Hon. Albert Chalamila, has said the region expects to host the international conference SACCA Congress 2026, which will be held at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JNICC), from October 11 to 16, 2026.
Speaking to journalists on October 9, 2026, Chalamila said the region has planned to ensure the security of citizens and visitors is enhanced, as well as to create an environment conducive to access to transport, food and other essential services for participants of the conference.
He said Tanzania expects to receive visitors from various countries, with the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, expected to be the guest of honor at the conference.
In addition, Chalamila has encouraged various stakeholders to take advantage of the opportunities that will arise from the conference, which is expected to be attended by more than 1,300 participants from various African countries and other parts of the world, explaining that it will stimulate economic activities in the tourism, transportation and other sectors.
In another step, Chalamila has mentioned the Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) and Ocean Road Hospital as among the facilities that will help provide medical services in the event of health emergencies for participants or visitors during the conference.
For his part, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Tanzania, Dr. Benson Ndiege, said the conference is an opportunity for Tanzania to learn from other countries, including neighboring countries, which have made progress in the cooperative sector.
