History continues to be written in the Rukwa region after air travel began operating, where now Sumbawanga Airport has begun to have a good flow of passenger aircraft following the official start of Tanzanian airline ATCL flights between Da Es Salaam and Rukwa.
The start of these flights is after the completion of the renovation of the airport, which was closed for use since 2023 after being closed due to maintenance, where the President of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, provided an amount of 60 billion shillings for renovation.
In March this year, the Prime Minister, while on his tour of the Rukwa Region, visited the airport and gave instructions to ensure that it began operating and is now operating as directed.
