The Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji (Mb), on April 28, 2026, arrived in Zimbabwe to participate in the Second Regional Conference of the World Tourism Organization. Immediately upon arrival, Dr. Kijaji was received by the Tanzanian Ambassador to the country, Commissioner of Police (CP) Suzan Kaganda.
The conference aims to strengthen the empowerment of women in the tourism sector in Africa and is expected to be held in the Victoria Falls area from April 29 to May 1,
2026.
Other issues to be discussed at the Conference include existing opportunities, challenges facing women and strategies to increase their participation in the tourism sector and contribute more to the economic development of African countries.
In parallel, the conference will be attended by various tourism stakeholders from within and outside Africa, serving as an important platform to exchange experiences, discuss good policies, and set strategies to promote inclusive and sustainable tourism.
Key agenda items will include strengthening women’s leadership, promoting entrepreneurship and expanding economic opportunities to increase their contribution to the growth of the tourism sector in Africa.
