The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Kilimanjaro Region, on 28 April 2026, participated in an important meeting with people with hearing disabilities (deaf) with the aim of providing tax education.
Speaking at the meeting held at the Moshi District Commissioner’s Office, the Tax Administrator from the TRA Business Facilitation Desk, Ms. Charlotte Mwandenga, said that TRA will continue to collaborate with the Tanzania Association of the Deaf (CHAVITA) in Kilimanjaro Region to ensure that the deaf community gains a proper understanding of tax issues and fulfills their responsibilities as citizens.
She said TRA has used the opportunity to provide tax education, explain the responsibilities of taxpayers and discuss the best way to improve the provision of tax education using sign language, to convey the message more effectively to the deaf community.
In parallel, the Chairperson of the Kilimanjaro Regional Association of the Deaf, Ms. Pulkeria Alloyce, thanked TRA for providing the education and requested that it continue to be provided to enable their members to be responsible for paying taxes through their economic activities.
The session was part of the preparations for the celebration of World Deaf Week, which will be held from September 21 to 26, 2026 in Kilimanjaro region.
