The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Coast Region has successfully seized 398 barrels of cooking oil that were being smuggled illegally in a special operation that took place on the night of April 24, 2026.
According to a statement by the authority, the oil was found already loaded on a Fuso vehicle in the Mlingotini area, Bagamoyo district, when officers from the Smuggling Control Unit were conducting routine patrols in areas associated with smuggling activities.
It has been stated that the vehicle and its cargo are currently under the supervision of the TRA Customs Department, while all legal procedures are being taken against the perpetrators of the incident.
However, the authority has called on citizens to stop engaging in smuggling businesses and instead follow the correct tax payment procedures as well as comply with customs laws.
