Dar es Salaam: In furtherance of its commitment to giving back to the community, the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) on April 2, 2026 reached out to children being cared for at the Watoto Wetu Tanzania center located in Mbezi Goba, Dar es Salaam, by providing them with food and beverage assistance as part of preparations for the Easter holiday.
Leading the exercise, TRA’s Taxpayer Education Manager Mr. Paul Walalaze, said the assistance provided includes rice, sugar, wheat flour, cooking oil and beverages, with the aim of bringing comfort to the children and making them feel valued during this festive period.
He said TRA believes in being close to all segments of society, especially those with special needs, and that the assistance is part of the Authority’s efforts to return to society the contribution derived from citizens’ tax payments.
In addition to providing the assistance, the Walalaze Manager used the opportunity to educate on the importance of paying taxes voluntarily, emphasizing that taxes are the main pillar of the country’s development.
He encouraged the center’s guardians to have a culture of demanding receipts whenever they make purchases to ensure that they too are part of building their Nation.
The center’s guardian, Mr. Evans Tegete, thanked TRA for the assistance they provided, explaining that it has come at the right time and will help bring joy to the children during the Easter Festival.
The exercise of distributing food and drink assistance to the children of the center has been received with joy by the children and their guardians, as an example of solidarity between TRA and the community in building a nation that cares and appreciates each other.
