The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila has handed over the Uhuru Torch to the Regional Commissioner of Tanga, Dkt. Matilda Burian after completing its run in Dar es Salaam region.
The torch was handed over on June 06, 2025 after reviewing all development projects in all 5 districts of the Region and approving them 100 percent and no project was rejected.
The Uhuru Torch 2025 began to be run in Dar es Salaam from June 01 to 05, 2025 starting in Temeke District, Kigamboni, Ilala, Kinondoni and ending in Ubungo.
In Dar es Salaam Region, the Uhuru Torch was led by Mr. Isumail Ali Ussi, the Leader of the National Uhuru Torch Relay, has led the torch relay covering a distance of 357.03 km, visiting, inspecting, laying the foundation stone and launching various development projects worth over 79 billion.
The Uhuru Torch, while being relayed in various parts of the Region, has continued to educate the community and mobilize citizens through this year’s theme which is ..
“Come out to Participate in the 2025 General Elections in Peace and Tranquility” as well as mobilizing citizens in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Corruption and the fight against Drugs.
