Dar es Salaam: Veteran journalist Maulidi Kitenge has joined forces with the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) to encourage citizens to use clean cooking energy with electricity, a move aimed at increasing public awareness about the benefits of using electricity in the kitchen and supporting the Government’s efforts to ensure that more citizens use clean cooking energy.
Maulidi has joined the campaign after being visited by the TANESCO Kinondoni North Leadership on July 08, 2026 and was given education on the use of electricity for cooking activities and practical training on the use of electric stoves.
The training was provided by the TANESCO Kinondoni North Customer Relations and Services Officer, Mr. Juma Msuya where Maulidi expressed his admiration for the convenience, safety and efficiency of using electricity for cooking activities, and promised to use his platform to encourage more citizens to start using this energy.
Speaking after the training, TANESCO Kinondoni North Manager, Mha. Godlove Mathayo said that collaboration with celebrities is part of TANESCO’s strategy to ensure that education about the use of clean cooking energy reaches more citizens.
“TANESCO Kinondoni North will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders, including celebrities, to increase public awareness about the benefits of using electricity for cooking activities and thus increase the use of clean energy in the country”, said Engineer Mathayo.
He said that through these campaigns, citizens continue to receive education that enables them to make the right decisions about energy use, while benefiting from electricity that is safe, easy to use, time-saving and environmentally friendly.
For TANESCO, the campaign continues to strengthen the provision of education to customers and increase the productive use of electricity, in parallel with strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders in bringing services closer to the citizens.
These efforts also support the Government’s agenda to promote the use of clean cooking energy, a measure that contributes to protecting the environment, improving the health of citizens and stimulating social and economic development in the country.
