The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Ms. Inger Andersen and her delegation on June 17, 2026, at the Sarova Whitesands Hotel, in Mombasa, Kenya.
During the talks, the leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in environmental conservation, combating climate change, protecting marine resources and promoting the sustainable use of these resources for the benefit of the people.
President Dr. Mwinyi thanked UNEP for its cooperation and contribution in the implementation of various environmental programs, while emphasizing Tanzania’s commitment to continue collaborating with the Agency in strengthening environmental conservation, the Blue Economy and sustainable development.
