The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has said that the Government will continue to collaborate with various institutions and stakeholders in the health sector to strengthen the provision of quality medical services to the citizens.
President Dr. Mwinyi said this, on June 11, 2026, at the Zanzibar State House, when he met with a delegation from the Humanity Institute led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Firaaz Azeez, and the Founder of the Doris Mollel Foundation, Mrs. Doris Mollel.
He said that the Government appreciates the contribution of the Humanity Institute in strengthening the health sector through investment in human resources, infrastructure and medical equipment, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening sustainable health systems instead of relying on short-term programs.
In addition, President Dr. Mwinyi thanked the Doris Mollel Foundation for its efforts to support health services for newborns and premature babies, a step that contributes to saving the lives of these children.
In another move, the Humaniti Institute has presented President, Dr. Mwinyi with a check for 503 million shillings for the purchase of medical equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases in children.
The Chief Executive Officer of Humaniti, Mr. Firaaz Azeez, has commended the significant progress in the health sector in Zanzibar after visiting Lumumba, Chumbuni and Magomeni Hospitals.
