Muhimbili Hospital steps up fight against breast cancer

Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) has brought together experts from various cadres and breast cancer heroes in a special workshop aimed at strengthening integrated services for breast cancer patients, especially exercise therapy services and psychological support for those who have undergone mastectomy.

Speaking on behalf of the hospital’s Executive Director, Director of Integrative Medicine, Dr. Mbonea Yonazi said that good cancer services require close collaboration of experts from various disciplines to ensure that the patient receives comprehensive care that helps them recover, return to normal life and continue living with hope.

“We have continued to strengthen cancer services through the ‘Patient Navigation’ system that helps patients understand and monitor their treatment journey more easily”, said Dr. Yonazi.

Since January this year, Muhimbili has treated 250 breast cancer patients with a mortality rate of less than four percent, a move that reflects the success of integrated services and improvements in cancer services provided at the hospital.
