Workers in Dar es Salaam urged to work hard and cooperate

The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila, has led hundreds of workers in the Region in the celebration of World Workers’ Day on May 1st held regionally at Mnazi Omwoya grounds and urged workers to work hard and with knowledge while evaluating the results of their success or productivity in the institutions they work for.

Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Chalamila urged workers to use their strength and knowledge well in carrying out their duties at work but also each worker to reflect on his contribution to the institution or authority he works for so that when they raise their voices for their rights, their performance will also be productive in their institutions.

He used the opportunity to commend private sector employers for helping the Government reduce the challenge of unemployment while urging them to follow procedures, rules and labor laws to reduce complaints from workers and has emphasized on workers to carry out their duties effectively in line with that.

The Regional Commissioner, Mr. Albert Chalamila has commended the workers in the region for the good work they are doing while continuing his stance of calling on institutions to publicly award cash prizes to employees who have done well in their service.

Reading the message of the workers in the region on behalf of the general secretary of the Dar es Salaam Regional Workers’ Union, the Secretary of the Teachers’ Union in the region, Mr. Abraham Kamwela, thanked the sixth-term Government for continuing to improve the environment, rights and interests of workers.

He also urged the government to continue to improve the working environment including reducing inflation, reducing traffic congestion, facilitating the availability of affordable housing for workers and continuing to improve workers’ incomes, especially considering the challenge of increasing the cost of living in every field.

The May Day celebrations carried the following theme;- “Decent Work is a Strong Pillar for Sustainable Development in the Implementation of the National Vision 2050”.
