Ministry of Energy presents its 2026/27 budget to Parliament

**The achievement is an increase of 12.17% from 4,031.71 to 4,522.54 Megawatts

The Minister of Energy, Mr. Deogratius Ndejembi has presented the estimated revenue and expenditure of the Ministry of Energy Budget for the financial year 2026/2027, identifying priorities in the electricity sub-sector as including ensuring reliable access to electricity to stimulate economic and social development.

Reading the budget speech, on April 22, 2026, in Parliament in Dodoma, Minister Ndejembi mentioned these priorities as including developing electricity production through nine plants at the Julius Nyerere Dam Hydropower Station.

Another is the completion of the next phases of the Kishapu solar power project after 50 megawatts have been connected to the national grid and the implementation of the Malagarasi power project, Kigoma which expects to generate 49.5 megawatts of electricity.

Speaking of the achievements made in the area of ​​power generation, Minister Ndejembi said that as of March 2026, the power generation capacity has increased to a total of 4,522.54 megawatts from 4,031.71 megawatts in 2025, an increase of 12.17%.
