Mloganzila Hospital provides mental health training for pregnant women

Muhimbili National Hospital [MNH] – Mloganzila has begun providing mental health training during pregnancy and after delivery to specialists, aiming to strengthen services during this crucial period.

Deputy Executive Director of MNH Mlonganzila, Dr. Julieth Magandi said the training aims to build the capacity of health professionals who will provide short-term training to maternal and child health care providers, where the program will be held from May 17 to June 26, 2026 Muhimbili – Mloganzila in Dar es Salaam.

Dr. Magandi said the importance of the training, explaining that it will help increase the effectiveness of service providers in early identification of signs of mental health challenges in mothers, a step that will enable the provision of timely and appropriate services.

She said these efforts are part of the hospital’s strategy to continue to improve the quality of health services for mothers and children, adding that a proper understanding of mental health during pregnancy and after delivery will help reduce harm and improve the well-being of the family and society as a whole.
