The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Mr. Albert Chalamila has handed over the Uhuru Torch the Coast Region, Mr. Abubakar Kunenge after a five-day run in the Region where all development projects in all 5 districts of the Dar es Salaam Region have been approved and the Torch of Freedom has been 100% approved, no project has been rejected.
The Uhuru Torch 2026 began running in the Dar es Salaam Region on April 13, 2026 starting in Ilala District, April 14, 2026 Kigamboni, April 15, 2026 Temeke, April 16, 2026 Ubungo and April 17,2026 concluded in Kinondoni District where early on April 18,2026 the Kinondoni District Commissioner, Mr. Saad Mtambule has handed over the Torch of Freedom to the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Mr. Albert Chalamila at the Bunju grounds.
In Dar es Salaam Region, the Uhuru Torch Relay led by Mr. Wazo Michael Mwang’onda, the Leader of the National Freedom Torch Relay, has led the Torch Relay for a distance of 392.22 km, visiting, inspecting, laying the foundation stone and launching 35 development projects worth more than 113.5 billion where all projects have been approved by the Freedom Torch Relay with a bang, no project has been rejected.
The Uhuru Torch Relay, while being relayed in various parts of the Region, has continued to educate the community and mobilize citizens through this year’s theme,
“Tanzania is All Ours Let’s Stick Together to Bring Development”.
Together to mobilize citizens in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Corruption and the fight against Drugs.
