Mbezi Juu Ward Councillor, Ms. Anna Lukindo, has commended TANESCO under the leadership of the Executive Director, Mr. Lazaro Twange, for its efforts to implement the Government’s agenda to promote the use of clean cooking energy in the country.
The commendations came following the implementation of the second program to distribute electric stoves on cheap loans to residents of Mbezi Jogoo, where a total of 25 citizens have already benefited from the program.
Speaking about the move, Ms. Lukindo said the program is evidence of TANESCO’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens through safe and environmentally friendly energy.
“I highly commend TANESCO for continuing to promote the use of clean cooking energy. This exercise reflects the commitment to improve the lives of citizens, increase the efficiency of electricity use, and advance the sustainable development agenda,” she said
In addition, the Councillor has urged other residents of the ward to seize the opportunity to obtain electric stoves on cheap loans.
He noted that beneficiaries will pay through a simple payment system through electricity purchases (LUKU) within a period of 12 months.
The Customer Relations and Service Officer, Mrs. Winifrida Peter, provided education to citizens immediately after the stoves were handed over, emphasizing the correct and safe use of the equipment to protect their health and the environment.
The program continues to be a catalyst for positive change in society, encouraging the use of clean energy as part of the journey towards sustainable development.
