Arusha: The Arusha District Commissioner in Arusha Region, Mr. Joseph Mkude has handed over transport equipment to TANESCO Arusha Region to enhance the provision of various services by the Corporation to the citizens.
Speaking on April 13, 2026 during the handover ceremony held at the TANESCO Arusha Regional Offices, he said that the step of handing over the equipment is a step taken by the Government to ensure that citizens receive reliable electricity services without any obstacles.
He said that the equipment will increase the efficiency of the work of TANESCO employees in the districts of Arusha Region and enable them to solve customer challenges in a timely manner as the vehicles and motorcycles will enable them to reach more places to deliver electricity services.
He has urged TANESCO Arusha Region employees to ensure that they use the equipment properly for the purposes intended by the Corporation and not for their own personal use which does not benefit or contribute to the Corporation, especially in providing services to the citizens.
“These vehicles that we received in our region are going to be distributed in each district. I ask that they be used properly for the intended purposes, let us not use these vehicles for our personal matters that are not productive in providing services to the citizens”, he said
TANESCO Security Services Manager, Mr. Lenin Kiobya said that the sixth phase government under President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan facilitated the purchase of more than 500 large and small vehicles for the 2025/2026 financial year to facilitate the provision of services to the citizens.
Mr. Kiobya said that among the more than 500 vehicles, there are 215 trucks of various sizes including 10 tons and 7 tons which are going to be the greatest support in timely electrical maintenance services, which will contribute to increasing the efficiency of work within the Organization.
He said that for the next fiscal year 2026/2027, the Government has allocated more than 200 billion to purchase such equipment, with the aim of completely eliminating the shortage of transportation equipment for TANESCO in all areas of the country.
“The Government enabled TANESCO to purchase 556 vehicles for this fiscal year 2025/2026 to simplify the provision of electricity services to the public and for the next fiscal year 2026/2027, the Government has allocated more than 200 billion to purchase such equipment, with the aim of completely eliminating the shortage of transportation equipment for TANESCO”, he said.
TANESCO Arusha Regional Manager, Engineer Kisika Kisika said that TANESCO in the Region has received various equipment, including 2 large vehicles, (4) Landcruser vehicles, and one (1) Bajaji, which will further improve customer service in the Region.
“We thank the Government through the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) for providing us with these tools which we are currently going to use to deliver services to the citizens more quickly,” he said.
