Kariakoo market traders have said they are now ready to use the new TRA system known as IDRAS after being given theoretical and practical training.

Speaking on February 06, 2026 in Dar es Salaam at the training on the new IDRAS system for Kariakoo traders, the Chairman of the Kariakoo Traders’ Association (JWK), Mr. Severin Mushi said they are ready to start using the system in close collaboration with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

The chairman said that through the training they have received from the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), they believe that the system will be of help to them and eliminate various challenges that existed. The IDRAS system will officially begin use on February 09, 2026.

He said the training has been of great help to traders because it has removed the fears that existed previously and given them a common understanding about the use of the system.

Mr. Mushi said they are prepared to receive the IDRAS system, explaining that anything new is always scary for those who receive it.

He said technological changes are inevitable in today’s world, so traders should adapt to it to improve the efficiency of tax payment.

However, Mr. Mushi has advised TRA to collaborate with the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) to solve the internet challenge in some business areas, especially Kariakoo to bring about the effective use of the new IDRAS system for taxpayers.

He has called on all traders to be ready to receive the IDRAS system and collaborate with the Government and TRA closely, emphasizing that the main goal is to ensure that tax payment becomes easy and productive.

“We are prepared to receive the system from Monday the 9th of this month. The main thing is to collaborate with the Government to ensure that we pay taxes and payment systems are easy,” said Mr. Mushi.

The chairman has proposed a transitional training period to give traders the opportunity to understand the system better and bring about the correct effectiveness of its implementation.

“At least the first three months should be for training and educating people on how to use the system, once they understand it, we will go together”, Mr. Mushi
