The Tanzania Revenue Authority [TRA] has enhanced the capacity of the Integrated Internal Revenue Service (IDRAS) system that taxpayers use for various TRA activities. The system will now be able to issue EFD receipts directly from online and users will be able to provide them to their customers.
Speaking during the IDRAS training for traders at MlimaniCity in Dar es Salaam, the IDRAS Project Manager, Mr. Frank, said that the IDRAS system will now be able to issue EFD receipts.
He said that they have decided to enhance the system’s capacity due to many complaints from traders, adding that apart from the complaints, EFD machines have also faced many challenges such as being damaged, stolen, lost and causing other challenges that have been hindering traders from carrying out their activities.
“Now the IDRAS system can issue receipts, so you can use it as an alternative to EFD machines when they malfunction or get lost”, said Mr. Frank
He said the inconvenience of registering after buying an EFD machine is no longer there for a trader buying an EDF machine will be able to register it himself through the IDRAS system instead of going to TRA offices.
Mr. Frank also expressed concern to traders about their various applications they apply for in the system that they will be processed quickly and responded to.
“Dear traders, we have really organized this IDRAS system, if you send any of your applications, they will be responded to in time because we have a large team that spends many hours looking at applications or any problem reported and resolving it quickly”, he said
The IDRAS system will be officially launched on February 09, 2026, currently traders have been trained on how to use it and have been asked to continue learning as the old system will be shut down on February 06, 2026.
