The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (Mb.) has said that improving the infrastructure of the Court is an important step that will enable citizens to receive services in a good environment.
He said this on January 1, 2025 while laying the Foundation Stone for the construction of the Western District Court B Building in Kisakasaka, Zanzibar.
Ambassador Kombo said that for many years the courts have had challenges with building infrastructure and the Government led by Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi is determined to end these challenges by building new and modern buildings.

“For example, the building used by the Western District Court B at Mwanakwerekwe was too small to the point of causing great congestion and inconvenience to those who followed the services there”, said Ambassador Kombo.
He said that in addition to the small size, it was also not friendly due to the lack of space for court officials.
He said the lack of services for people with special needs and parking caused citizens to spend a lot of time waiting for services due to the lack of a quiet place to wait for services.
He said that this situation is what caused the Government to take deliberate steps to come up with a project to build regional and district courts in Unguja and Pemba.
He said the construction of the building is part of the implementation of a seven-building construction project that was planned to be carried out in the 2023/2024 financial year.
In Unguja, Ambassador Kombo said that the Lot Number 2 project includes four buildings, namely: the Northern Regional Court, the Western Urban Regional Court, the Southern Regional Court and the Western District Court B.
The Government continues to invest a lot of money in the construction of office building infrastructure, so it is the responsibility of the users of this infrastructure and the citizens in general to maintain it so that it can last for many years to come.
