PRIMARY MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has said President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has encouraged Tanzania in the promotion of the use of clean cooking energy due to its importance to human health and environmental protection.
He said that due to these efforts, international organizations have shown interest in supporting him, including holding a major clean energy conference in Africa here in the country.
“Tanzanians, let us support President Dr. Samia in this campaign and ensure that we lead in the use of clean energy in Africa”, said the Prime Minister
December 31, 2024 during the Kizimkazi Declaration Festival which went hand in hand with the distribution of 1000 gas stoves through the campaign to use clean cooking energy.
The event took place in the Kilimahewa Majumbakumi area, Ruangwa in Lindi region.
“We should support him because the agenda has been initiated by our President, the world must recognize Tanzania as it has recognized and brought a major clean energy conference to this country, we should not be behind, let us be at the forefront”, he said
He called on Local Government Authorities to carry the agenda of clean cooking energy and promote the importance of using that energy including electricity, gas and friendly charcoal.
Speaking at the event, Lindi Regional Commissioner, Mrs. Zainab Telack said that Kizimkazi’s resolution is going to be a savior for women to get clean cooking energy.
One of the beneficiaries of the Gas cylinder distribution program, Mrs. Hawa Mpinga, a resident of Nachingwea Ward, said that they previously experienced health challenges due to the use of dirty energy.
“Wood smoke has really damaged our eyes”, said Mrs. Mpinga
During the event, the Prime Minister distributed 1000 gas cylinders, of which 800 were provided by the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation through Bongo Fm and 200 cylinders were provided by Taifa Gesi.
