DAWASA Continues Water Infrastructure Maintenance in Dar es Salaam

The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, has urged residents who receive water supplied via the Mabwepande–Bunju main pipeline—which serves various parts of Dar es Salaam—to exercise patience during major maintenance work on water infrastructure, to be carried out by the Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Authority (DAWASA).

Speaking during a visit to water infrastructure facilities in Mabwepande, Dar es Salaam, Chalamila explained that the maintenance involves the lowering of a large water pipeline. This process may result in a reduced flow of water for approximately four to five days.

He noted that while the water supply might not flow at the usual pressure, it will not be cut off entirely. He emphasized that it is better to endure this temporary challenge for a few days to facilitate the necessary repairs, rather than waiting two to three months until river water levels drop further.

Regional Commissioner Chalamila commended the good work being done by DAWASA, even though water access has not yet reached 100% for all residents. He further urged those with outstanding water bills to settle their debts and warned individuals involved in water theft to cease such activities immediately.
