OACPS must turn resolutions into programs to help citizens

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has called on the African, Caribbean and Pacific Community (OACPS) to ensure that resolutions and declarations adopted at its meetings are implemented through programs that directly benefit member countries and citizens.

President Dr. Mwinyi made the call, on July 23, 2026, when he met with the Secretary General of OACPS, Hon. Moussa Saleh Batraki and his delegation who arrived at the State House in Zanzibar.

During the talks, President Dr. Mwinyi emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the development of the Blue Economy, sustainable management of marine resources, fisheries, conservation of the marine environment as well as the exchange of experience and technology among member countries.

He said Zanzibar has continued to benefit from various programs implemented through the cooperation of OACPS and the European Union, including programs that enable smallholder farmers to improve production, achieve market standards and increase the competitiveness of their products.

The Secretary General of OACPS, Hon. Moussa Saleh Batraki, has thanked Tanzania for its contribution to the activities of the Community and commended the steps being taken by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar in advancing the Blue Economy agenda.

He has stressed the commitment of OACPS to continue collaborating with member states in finding solutions to the challenges facing Small Island Developing States and enhancing sustainable development.
