Over 200 Bloggers Request JAB Training

JAB: The Journalists Accreditation Board (JAB) has received a request from the Tanzania Bloggers Network (TBN) to provide training to over 200 of its members on the News Services Act, Journalistic Ethics and the importance of accreditation.

The request was made, on July 16, 2026, by the Chairman of the Tanzania Bloggers Network, Mr. Beda Msimbe, when he met with the Acting Director General of JAB, Attorney Patrick Kipangula, in a discussion held at the Board’s offices in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking after the discussion, Attorney Kipangula said the Board has received the request and is ready to collaborate with the Network in enabling bloggers to gain a deeper understanding of the News Services Act, professional ethics and the importance of accreditation.

He said the training will start with certified bloggers to enhance their skills and understanding of professional responsibilities, before continuing to reach those who have not yet obtained certification.

“Those who do not have certification will have the opportunity to be guided on the legal requirements for obtaining certification, including the importance of having the required qualifications in accordance with the Information Services Act. Those who do not have the necessary qualifications will be advised to continue their education so that they can meet the criteria for obtaining certification,” said Attorney Kipangula.

For his part, the Chairman of the Tanzania Bloggers Association, Mr. Beda Msimbe, said the training will help members of the association carry out their duties in accordance with the law, ethics and professionalism, while contributing effectively to informing the public and promoting Tanzania through development reports implemented in various sectors.

He said the partnership between the Association and JAB will help build the capacity of bloggers and strengthen their contribution to the country’s information sector.
